| I'M NOT THE DOCTOR.. |
| A long time ago there was a man called the Doctor who had a terrible choice to make. Every option was as horrible as the next. Kill thousands of human beings to save the last of the Star Whales, let it continue on in unendurable agony for hundreds more years, or murder a beautiful, innocent creature as painlessly as possible. The Doctor knew from the start there was only one option. Amy Pond had seen all the little connections that the Doctor hadn't - seen the option that he couldn't. But a moment of doubt hesitated her words, and then it was too late. In another universe both Star Whale and humans were saved; but here and now the Star Whale died and the Doctor along with it. Another man walked away from the Starship UK, a man with the Doctor's face and voice, but who wasn't the Doctor. He took Amy back to her house in Leadworth with its too many rooms and a life that made no sense. He left her there - no goodbyes, no explanation, no heart or sympathy. For years he kept to himself and his TARDIS. He had never been very good at being alone when he was the Doctor, but this new man seemed to deal with the solitude well enough. Whenever asked his name he might give an answer, whatever name happens to be off the top of his head; other times he may not even bother. Just as long as they don't call him Doctor, it doesn't matter. |
